Monday, July 29, 2024, was the first day of the 2024 Paris Olympics and 9News presented the medal tally after the conclusion of all the events scheduled on the first day.
It was an unintentional mistake by the Australian broadcaster as it displayed each country’s flag alongside their rankings except South Korea which was listed as Korea Republic which won one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal to be placed on the 5th ranking on the medal tally. Making a silly mistake, 9News showed the Chinese flag in place of the South Korean Taeguki flag.
The Koreans had become more keen after the narrators introduced South Korea as North Korea during the inaugural ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A native of South Korea living in Australia immediately raised his voice and expressed his frustration. He raised concerns while pointing out the flag of South Korea.
