On X and Reddit, many users posted that the logo of the Facebook app has changed. Over the past couple of days, Facebook users have reported something strange about the app’s logo on their phones. Many are seemingly not happy with this change in the icon of the social media platform “Facebook“.

Meta Addresses Facebook Icon Color Shift

However, it is not the first time when a company updated the appearance of its logo. Over the years, we have seen several companies occasionally change the colors of their logos in a bid to attract the user’s attention such as Duolingo changing its bird logo to look like melting if you stop using the app. Likewise, some users of Facebook noticed the app’s icon background changed to black from blue. A user on X asked what’s wrong with the Facebook logo as it shows a blue lowercase “F” on a black or dark background which was earlier a white lowercase “f” on a blue background. To get the traditional logo of Facebook, the user also deleted the app and reinstalled but the issue remained unsolved. On social media, several users thought the Facebook icon changed to a black background because some users turned on their phone’s dark mode but the background of the Facebook icon turned black also for the users who were using their mobile phones in light mode.

Why Some Users Are Seeing a Black Background?

A user of iPhone, whose phone is not in dark mode also sees the Facebook icon with a black background confirming that the icon appears with a black background not because of dark mode turned on in the mobile phones. However, it was also found that the logo background was not changed for all the users as it turned from a blue background to a black background for some users only. In a bid to cater to the queries of the users, USA Today reached out to Meta about the new logo combination for Facebook’s logo. It reported that the change in the background is not in effect everywhere as several users still have the original logo with a white “f” on a blue background on their mobile phones.

Although users did not opt for changing the Facebook logo color it was the company’s update to turn its logo dark which was found very irritating by many users as Facebook is known for consistently featuring the familiar white and blue color combination associated with the social media platform. In addition, Meta and Facebook are known for maintaining the brand’s identity. Some also speculated that Facebook’s logo change was a result of a glitch or an update.
