Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry’s ‘The Union’ Receives Mixed Reviews

Despite having big stars and a big budget, the film can not impress the viewers and receive praise from them. An action-comedy film should be more entertaining despite incredible lead actors like Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry. The lack of charm of the lead actors in the film can also be felt by some fans.

While watching this film which is barely two hours long, it felt like something was playing on Netflix in the background. Many media outlets gave low ratings to this film. The fans had much higher expectations from Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry.

The overall one-word review for The Union is “Disappointing”. The film did not receive good ratings as well. It falls flat in terms of a captivating storyline and entertaining scenes which could have worked out to an extent.

This film is about a broke construction worker named Mike who lives with his mother in his hometown of Patterson, New Jersey, where he also hangs out with his friends and goes to bars with them. Mike’s biggest achievement is a one-night stand with his seventh-grade teacher and the biggest win is his friend’s marriage where he is the best man.

Why Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry’s Latest Venture Misses the Mark

Mike’s life keeps going on in this direction until he meets his old high school girlfriend named Roxane in a bar in his hometown. His old girlfriend is now glamorous and confident enough as well. After meeting his ex-girlfriend in his hometown bar, Mike wakes up in a luxury hotel in London, leaving Mike baffled.

Later he finds out that he has been recruited as a spy. Roxanne and Mike embark on an extraction mission together “Mission: Impossible” in Trieste, Italy. “The Union” is the name of a clandestine agency for which Roxanne works as a spy agent. Roxanne tells Mike that every other secret agency in the world has been compromised because of a recent theft of classified information.

Usually, it takes at least one month to give basic training to a spy but Roxanne tells Mike that he has to do it in two weeks. The biggest drawback of the film is that it was not revealed anywhere in the film why Mike was recruited and why can not a real agent do this. It seems that the director forgot to film that particular scene during the filming of The Union. Stay tuned to this website for more details.
